Wow! What a year 2020 has been! As much as I'm sad it's ending (there was a military retirement for me somewhere in there,) I'm strangely relieved that there is another year on the horizon that will inevitably usher in new opportunities and possibilities! Sometimes things we see may appear a bit damp or grim, oftentimes it's due to our own limiting beliefs. Our thinking is shaped by many factors including who we are as individuals and how we are influenced and shaped by our environment as we grow and mature through life.
When we experience new or unforeseen changes in our lives, sometimes we can begin to feel lost or stuck, not knowing which direction to go or what decision to make. People may offer their best guidance and advice, but even those with the best intentions can get it wrong for us. So what alternatives exist that can help people navigate through life challenges along a pathway that works best for them? Answer: Coaching.
Waypoint 11 - Coaching
Coaching is a process focused on creating awareness within an individual by challenging them to think differently. It is aimed at helping an individual become engaged and empowered to improve or enhance areas of life on their own. It is a tool that leaders and mentors use to facilitate personal and professional growth.
Now, you may have gleaned while traversing through previous Waypoints that I'm a big fan of collaborative learning, so I invited a fellow coaching colleague, Dr. Sam Jennings II, to join me for a discussion centered around what coaching is and isn't, why is it important, and how can benefit individuals and organizations.
